CERASORB® M

Setting the New Standard for

bone grafting

CERASORB M is resorbed from both outer and inner pore surfaces, allowing resorption at the same rate of new bone formation.

World-famous synthetic material for bone augmentation, Cerasorb® is made of pure β-tricalcium phosphate (>99%) and is used as a filler of oral and maxillofacial surgery bone defects. Cerasorb® is available in different sizes, providing interconnected multi-porosity, different granules dimensions and times of reabsorption to meet all requirements. The product is characterized by a high degree of handling.

Instructions for use: before applying Cerasorb®, mix it autologous blood. Completely fill the defect by connecting the material with the bone. Avoid an excessive condensation and the destruction of the granules.

CERASORB® M

Production

#1

Cerasorb® is manufactured in a cleanroom by sintering and computer-controlled high-temperature process. The base elements are calcium carbonate and calcium hydrogen phosphate. The material is milled to crush it into granules of defined dimensions and then sifted until the final product is reached (Cerasorb® M). Cerasorb® products are processed with 150-200 MPa cold isostatic compression to obtain a long shape. An additive is added to Cerasorb® M to obtain the desired multi-porosity. The polygonal granules are produced with a special  technique of grinding and the sifted to have different-sized granules.

Quality

#2

The quality of synthetic components and the packaging materials are controlled when accepting. The synthesis of Cerasorb® is accompanied by a lot of chemical and mineralogical testing performed both internally and externally. The product complies with international standards, i.e. ASTMF-1088-04 (Standard specifications for ß-tricalcium phosphate for surgical implant). When it is pure (99%) it goes beyond the level of purity required by standards. The product is packed in a clean room, sterilized with to gamma radiation and then supplied in double hard blister packaging. The colour of the coded lid helps to select the right dimension of the granules.

features

65% interconnected multi-porosity and 35% of β-TCP. The granules have an irregular and polygonal structure. This kind of structure offers  a better stability and preserves from micro-movements. It seems less radiopaque.

Granules sizes:
150-500 micron, 1000-2000 micron

benefits

– No mechanical irritation of surrounding tissues.
– Spaces among the granules promote bone formation.
– Completely recover.

CERASORB® M

Safety

#3

Cerasorb® is made from calcium and phosphate, both important factors in the mineral phase of the bone. This product is well-tolerated by the body, without any immune-mediated risk or infection likely to be found in the material of biological origin. It does not produce systemic toxicity and it is non-allergenic. Thanks to its homogeneous solubility, it releases calcium and phosphate ions in the site, in physiologic concentrations (Ca/P 1:5 ratio). These ions are easily absorbed by osteoblasts for bone mineralization. Cerasorb® is then absorbed while the new bone is forming.
